Why CoolRight

An air conditioning system is only as good as the day it was installed.

Undersized units that run flat out, condensate routed uphill, pipe runs never pressure tested, warranties never registered. Almost every callout we attend on someone else's system traces back to the install, not the equipment. We do the boring parts properly.

Sized by calculation

Heat load worked out from glazing, orientation, occupancy and construction. Not a guess from the room's floor area.

Installed to spec

Brazed joints, nitrogen purge, vacuum and pressure test, condensate falls checked, commissioning readings recorded and handed to you.

Quiet and efficient

Inverter equipment selected for sound level as much as output, sited so the outdoor unit is not the thing your neighbour remembers you by.

We maintain what we fit

Annual servicing, filter and coil cleans, refrigerant checks and priority callouts. The same engineers who installed it.

The process

Four stages, and you know the price before anyone drills a wall.

Stage 01

Enquiry and reply

Send the form with your postcode and what you need. We reply the same day, and book a free visit if we need to see the space to price it accurately.

Stage 02

We come and look

Free, and usually 30 to 60 minutes. Heat load, indoor and outdoor unit positions, pipe routes, condensate, power supply and access all agreed with you on site.

Stage 03

Fixed written quote

Within 24 hours. Equipment named and specified, the work itemised, the price fixed. Two or three options where there is a genuine choice to make.

Stage 04

Install and aftercare

Most domestic installs are a day. Commissioning readings, warranty registration, a walkthrough of the controls, then an annual service reminder.

What we do

Installation, servicing, maintenance. Bespoke where it needs to be.

Residential, commercial and bespoke work across London and the whole of the South East. Choose what you are looking at and we will tell you how we approach it.

Wall-Mounted Splits

The single most common domestic install: one indoor unit, one outdoor condenser, a small core drilled through the wall. Fitted well it is quiet, unobtrusive and cheap to run. Fitted badly it drips, rattles, and cools one corner of the room.

We agree unit position with you before anything is cut, keep pipe runs as short and as hidden as the building allows, and box or trunk what cannot be concealed neatly rather than leaving it clipped to a wall.

Commercial and landlords

When the cooling goes down, the business goes with it.

Offices, salons, restaurants, retail units, gyms, comms rooms and managed blocks. We install and maintain systems where downtime costs money, and where a failed inspection is a compliance problem rather than an inconvenience.

Planned maintenance schedules, F-Gas leak checking and logging for systems above the thresholds, out of hours installation to avoid trading disruption, and a named engineer who knows your site.

Typical work includes single room wall-mounted splits in period houses and flats, multi-split systems covering several bedrooms from one outdoor unit, ceiling cassettes and ducted systems in offices and retail, air to air heat pumps used for heating as well as cooling, and comms room cooling with monitoring. Send your postcode in the form and we will confirm cover and get you a price.

Straight answers

Fair questions before you spend money on cooling.

How much does air conditioning cost to install?

A single wall-mounted split in a straightforward room is the entry point, with multi-split and ducted systems rising from there depending on the number of rooms, the equipment chosen and how much making good is involved. We do not price a job we have not seen, because a price given blind over the phone is a guess that gets corrected upwards later. The visit is free and the written quote is fixed.

Do I need planning permission?

For most domestic installs, no. Outdoor units on houses usually fall under permitted development provided siting, size and noise conditions are met, but flats, listed buildings, conservation areas and front elevations are different. We check this when we visit and tell you before you commit.

How much does it cost to run?

Far less than most people expect. A modern inverter split serving a bedroom typically runs at a few hundred watts once it has reached temperature, rather than the full rated input. We give you indicative running costs for the equipment we propose, based on your usage rather than a best case.

Is it noisy?

The indoor unit at low fan speed is quieter than a fridge. The outdoor unit is the one that matters, for you and for your neighbours, so we select on sound power as well as capacity and site it thoughtfully. We will tell you if the only available position is a problem.

Can air conditioning heat my home too?

Yes. Any inverter system we install is a reversible air-to-air heat pump, and in an insulated room it is one of the cheapest ways to heat a space. We size for both loads so it performs properly in January as well as in July.

How often does it need servicing?

Annually for domestic, six-monthly for heavily used commercial systems. It protects the manufacturer warranty, keeps efficiency up, and prevents the two most common failures we attend: blocked condensate drains and fouled coils.

What is F-Gas and why does it matter?

Refrigerant handling is legally restricted to certified engineers and certified companies. An installer without F-Gas certification cannot lawfully work on the refrigerant circuit, and a system installed outside that framework can invalidate both the warranty and your insurance. We are registered, and we will show you the certificate.

How long does an install take?

Most single-room domestic installs are one day. Multi-splits are one to three days, and ducted and commercial work runs longer and is quoted by programme. You will have the dates in writing before we start.

Do you work on systems you did not install?

Yes, for servicing and repair, with the caveat that we will tell you plainly if we find something in the original installation that we cannot warrant. If it needs putting right, we will price that separately and openly.
